With the advancement of technology and demands, machine builders are constantly seeking for new automation solutions to improve their manufacturing outputs/processes. In response to these, they must often incorporate commercial off-the-shelf components and other technologies to deliver more performance at lower costs in smaller form factors.
Generally, a machine’s automation solution comprises power and control components. Depending on the machine, smaller machines might be housed in one panel; whereas larger machines might require multiple panels. However, the main system and components of machine automation solutions are :
- power distribution
- motor control and drives
- safety system
- programmable logic controllers
- I/O (input-output) units
- communication systems
- human-machine interface (HMI)
